On P 0.50 Fare Rollback

It's really not too difficult to understand why commuters can only have that much of a rollback in fares these days, what with the global economic crunch that's been worrying everybody around the globe.

Neither is it too difficult to comprehend how oil companies can only give that much of a reduction in the prices of oil.

It's not too hard to think of the few centavos rollback as a Christmas present to all commuters. If you think about it, in these times of crisis and hardship, a centavo can be a great deal already.

And, of course, in these trying times, for oil companies that care a lot about the public, it's better to give a measly few centavos rollback than to cut down the 100K+ bonuses of their executives and their other extra benefits. Picture how wretched their lives would be if they'll get cuts in their bonuses. Imagine how miserable they would be if they would only get their thirteenth-months and no more fourteenth, fifteenth, sixteenth and so on.

Try thinking what will happen if they can't avail of their monthly gas allowances.

We all must understand, it is better to have a few centavos rollback than for these companies to be at the losing end and be constrained to close down their "struggling" businesses. Or to take out their expensive ads showing off their accomplishments in the production of hydroelectricity. Or to cut down on expenses for the renovation of their well designed pump stations. Or to cancel this years Christmas party in some expensive hotels.

Should we feel indebted to these generous companies and LTFRB who cared to give us a boundless and bountiful price cut in the season of giving?

And yes, if the global markets allow, we can expect more of these measly few-centavos rollback next year.
